Summarising the GBH (Great Big House)

The house is very comfortable and well equipped, fully centrally heated throughout, and also has woodburners in the inglenooks in the dining room and lounge. It’s a large, cheerful atmospheric house with loads of character in a wonderful location on the edge of the village of Timberscombe; itself situated in the beautiful Avill valley, and nestling under Dunkery and the moor.

The two halves of the house, the Georgian and the Tudor meld seamlessly into one another to provide the perfect venue for that house party or family get together. In total the house has: -

• 5 Ensuite double bedrooms (4 with showers as well as baths). (2 of these bedrooms have twin beds, 2 have double beds and one has a kingsize plus a single bed) There is also a single bedroom off of one of the doubles.

• 4 other double bedrooms. ( two with double beds, one with a double plus a single and one with five singles)
• 2 additional bathrooms and two cloakrooms
• One large Farmhouse Kitchen plus a Kitchenette
• A large dining room (seats 20/24)
• Two Lounges
• Pool Room, Games Room and a Bar

Plus Outdoor Chess and a Barbecue area.

This in total provides accommodation for 22 people, with some extra beds allowing plenty of flexibility in the sleeping arrangements. There are also a couple of Z beds.

The Tudor portion, with its large rooms, is ideal for the socializing bit, while there is enough room in the rest of the house for people to get away from each other (if they so desire), and do their own thing.

Notes for Organisers

The Great House is the perfect place to holiday with friends, or for those large groups or family celebrations. Groups have been returning year after year, though sometimes, say after a 30th birthday bash, it has been more difficult to think of an excuse for coming the next year – 31 hasn’t got the same ring to it, but most groups seem to find a reason, or at least invent one.

Previous groups have used the house for many different occasions, that special birthday, family get-together, pre Christmas present swop parties, company break etc. So if you have been seconded into finding somewhere for that large group, look no further.
